Jonathan's journey to Chicago began with a job transfer from North Carolina in 2000. Alongside his partner René of 14 years, they proudly serve as dads to Bailey, their 12-year-old Westie. Driven by a lifelong passion for dogs, Jonathan left behind a career in software sales in 2022 to fulfill his dream of creating safe and enjoyable spaces for furry companions. Beyond Barksville, he finds joy in spending time with friends, immersing himself in the theater scene, and exploring new culinary delights at local restaurants.

Katie is the dedicated Manager at Barksville, boasting an impressive 16-year tenure in the industry. As a devoted dog mom to three furry companions - a lively 6-month-old puppy and two beloved senior rescues - her passion for canine care is evident in every aspect of her work. Katie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role, ensuring that each pet receives the highest level of attention and care. Her commitment to the well-being of animals is unwavering, making her an invaluable leader and mentor within the Barksville family.

Georgia is our Assistant Manager, where she seamlessly blends her three years of industry experience with her innate passion for dogs. As the devoted mother of Oscar De La Hoya, her lively 7-year-old Boxer, and a delightful 14-month-old daughter, she understands the importance of nurturing care both at work and at home. Married to a firefighter, she embodies dedication and teamwork, values she brings to her role every day.

Linda is our Daycare Supervisor, where her passion for animals and commitment to excellence drive everything she does. In her role, Linda trains new staff on every aspect of our operations, ensuring they meet Barksville’s high standards for dog care. Our expectations are high, Linda equips our team with the skills and knowledge to provide outstanding care and attention to every dog. A devoted caregiver at home as well, Linda shares her life with six dogs, fourteen bunnies, three tortoises, and a gecko—many of whom live in custom enclosures she designed and built herself. Her creativity and dedication enrich the lives of pets and their owners at Barksville every day."

Molly brings over four years of experience in animal care, transitioning from shelter work to the vibrant pet industry of Chicago. Originally from Michigan, she pursued studies in social media marketing and business in college. As a proud pet parent to a lively Goldendoodle named Harry and two cats, Molly's lifelong passion for animals shines through in her work. Her natural inclination for rescuing strays as a child has evolved into a fulfilling career. Outside of work, Molly designs digital dog portraits, capturing the unique personalities of her clients' beloved pets.

Edson joined Barksville in December 2024 after Your Pet’s Wellness closed its doors, where he spent over six years building strong bonds with both dogs and customers. His love for animals shines through in everything he does, and it’s no surprise that many of his former clients followed him to Barksville, thrilled to see a familiar face. The dogs who knew Edson before adore him — and every new pup he meets quickly feels the same. At home, Edson and his incredible wife Ruby share their lives with two Shibas, Yuki and Mizuki. When he’s not at Barksville, you’ll find him listening to music, painting, or skateboarding.

Bianca has been working with dogs since 2021, but her love for dogs started much earlier, having grown up surrounded by them. Her favorite breed is the dachshund, but she loves all dogs and finds being around them incredibly therapeutic and healing. Outside of work, Bianca enjoys exploring new cuisines and discovering unique flavors. Her nurturing spirit and love for dogs bring a calming presence to our daycare and boarding family.

Sonya is a passionate animal lover who brings her experience and dedication to Barksville. At 21, she’s already developed a strong foundation in dog care, having previously worked at Call of the Wild School for Dogs until its closure in September 2024. As a mother to three - her 8-month-old son and her two loyal dogs, a German Shepherd named Midnight and a Husky named Shadow - Sonya’s nurturing spirit extends to both her family and the dogs at Barksville. Outside of work, Sonya enjoys playing volleyball, reading a good book, and nature walks. Her enthusiasm for both animals and personal growth makes her a valuable and caring member of the Barksville team.

Kristanna grew up in LA and later moved to Chicago for school. She’s currently studying Health Science at UIC but is still exploring her future career options. As the middle child between an older sister and a younger brother, Kristanna brings a balanced, thoughtful approach to everything she does. Before joining Barksville, Kristanna got her introduction into dog care by working at Call of the Wild until its closure in September 2024.

Danielle joined Barksville in October 2024 and, after originally splitting her time between two daycares, she became full-time with us in September 2025. Originally from New York, she now calls Chicago home. With seven years of experience as a dog handler and eight as a bather, she brings both skill and heart to every shift. Danielle shares her life with her one-year-old Japanese Akitainu, Taiyo, and two cats. She loves watching and participating in dog sports such as agility, barn hunt, rally, and conformation. Taiyo already holds an Intermediate Trick Dog title, and the two are now working toward his Advanced title while exploring even more sports together. Outside of work, Danielle enjoys board games, traveling to conventions, and attending dog shows—always finding ways to stay connected to the dog world she loves.

Born and raised in Chicago, Valerie has been working with animals since 2017—but her love for dogs started long before that. She’s never been without a dog in her life and can’t imagine it any other way! At home, she shares her heart (and couch) with three dogs and one cat. Outside of Barksville, Valerie enjoys watching scary movies, creating special effects makeup, and exploring the city with her friends. Her calm and gentle nature makes her a favorite among our pups, bringing a sense of comfort and balance to every playgroup. We’re so lucky to have her as part of the Barksville family!

Originally from Iowa City, Anden has dreamed of living in Chicago since she was little and is thrilled to now call it home. She’s been working with dogs her whole life—starting at age 10 walking her neighbors’ pups, then moving into dog sitting, Rover, and eventually her first job at a canine training center. Passionate about continuing her career with dogs, Anden hopes to earn her training certification in the future. At home, she has a cat named Slinky and dreams of adding a dachshund (or two!) to the family. Outside of work, she loves crafting, and spending time cooking and baking. We’re so happy to have Anden and she’s quickly become a favorite among the pups! You may also spot her at the front desk, so be sure to say hi and help us welcome her to Chicago.

Originally from California, Liv began her journey working with dogs at a daycare before moving to Chicago and joining the Barksville team. She’s been working with dogs for about a year and loves getting to know each pup’s unique personality. Liv is currently attending school, majoring in psychology, and brings her calm, thoughtful energy to both the playrooms and the front desk. When she’s not caring for pups, she enjoys listening to music, playing piano, and spending quiet moments cloud watching or stargazing. We’re so happy to have Liv as part of the Barksville family—be sure to say hi and welcome her next time you see her at the front desk!
